Co-Founder
Morven Shearlaw
As a designer, I am passionate about Human Factors and how to make things work as well as possible for humans. When working within a project, I typically provide my input, gathering the human perspective and sharing it with our talented designers. My mission as a director of our company is to make it the best it can possibly be for the people who work here.
Senior Project Lead
Alex Mitchell
With years of experience in the product design and medical device industries, our senior team member Alex is at the forefront. He is always making sure our projects are running smoothly, and the Fearsome team is growing and innovating internally to meet their ambitious goals.
Biomedical Engineer
Paul Davis
I help develop concepts through iterative design, prototyping, and testing - with a focus on medical devices. I devise testing strategies which allow us to mimic appropriate operating conditions, particularly those of the human body, and am responsible for keeping Fearsome's lab space running smoothly.
Head Of Marketing
Charlotte Belle
My responsibilities at Fearsome are quite varied from day to day, and they include everything from developing marketing campaigns to producing digital content. I'm frequently seen designing, managing projects, and coming up with marketing strategies for the medical device industry. Every day offers a fresh opportunity for professional growth, and I appreciate the challenges that come with the role.
Product Design Engineer
Vhairi Maxwell
I extensively work in the development of surgical instrumentation, and I'm skilled in bringing conceptual designs to life through detailed development, product certification, and production. I enjoy the challenge of developing a product solution that meets difficult clinical needs while remaining commercially viable in the market.
Project Lead
Barry Warden
My background is in mechanical design engineering, and I've managed multi-disciplinary teams for a number of years, mostly focusing on novel medical devices. I've worked in a number of different areas within product development and, fortunately, have had the chance to work on some really interesting projects. Outside of Fearsome project work, I support the leadership team in driving improvement and growth.
Product Designer & Prototyping Lead
Robert Patience
I am a designer with a primary focus on mechanical problem solving, hands-on prototyping, and using iterative making to find solutions. In my spare time, I'm busy fixing and tinkering or falling into the depths of machining videos on YouTube. I would happily spend all of his money on new tools and toys for my home workshop, the more dangerous looking they are, the better.
Senior Product Design Engineer
Callum Davies
I'm really enjoying my time at Fearsome since joining in June 2022. It's been a fantastic opportunity to work on such a high-risk device category, which can offer huge value in the treatment of neurological conditions. I bring with me my medical device engineering experience in drug delivery, orthopaedics, and laparoscopy to an exciting new treatment in the field of neurosurgery.
Quality Specialist
Daniel Little
I have a background in neuroscience and cell biology, having completed a PhD in gene therapy for spinal muscular atrophy.
As the quality specialist at Fearsome, I am responsible for maintaining the quality management system to ensure all of the products we design comply with industry regulatory governance.
Biomedical Engineer
Jack Logan
Given the combination of my undergraduate Masters degree in Chemical Engineering and my Engineering Doctorate in Medical Devices, I was a great fit for the team. I am passionate about collaboration to design new devices to meet current medical needs, as this is what it is all about for me- using my current skills and also learning what I need to learn in order to help those in need with my designs.
Product Designer
Tom Blakeman
I usually work on new cutting-edge product design projects that involve my expertise in mechanical engineering and industrial product design. I have been with Fearsome for over 9 years, and it's been great seeing the company grow and move into the medical device industry. To this day, I am still developing my skill set and innovating within my team.
Product Design Engineer
Louis Slorach
I started working with Fearsome mid-pandemic, after graduating with a MEng in Product Design Engineering from Glasgow University/Glasgow School of Art. My role within the Fearsome team usually involves visuals and mechanical design, but we all end up doing a wee bit of everything.
Senior Product Design Engineer
Iain Taylor
Passionate about merging innovation and healthcare, I am a dedicated product designer with a focus on creating cutting-edge medical devices that improve patient outcomes and enhance healthcare experiences. With a solid background in scientific disciplines and a deep understanding of the medtech space, I thrive on the challenge of translating complex medical requirements into user-friendly and efficient designs.
Senior Product Design Engineer
Colin Phimister
I have a background in product design consultancy as well as experience working in both high-volume and low-volume manufacturing industries. I'm fascinated by mechanisms, manufacturing processes, and product designs that elegantly solve complex problems. Fearsome's experience and focus on medical product development provide the opportunity to use my skills and knowledge while continuing to grow as a design engineer.
Design Engineer
Adam Ashing
Following the completion of an MEng in General Engineering, I went on the search for a hands-on technical company where I'd be able to utilise and develop a variety of competencies. Thanks to Fearsome, I've had the opportunity to apply a broad range of engineering skills to several interesting challenges already.
Senior Product Design Engineer
Mark Foulger
With a background in consumer and medical goods, my focus is on comprehending engineering challenges and translating conceptual solutions into user-friendly, robust products. I sought a shift to design consulting for diverse projects after working in both large and small corporate settings. Fearsome's impressive portfolio, showcasing a commitment to human-focused design and engineering excellence, drew me in.
Product Design Engineer
Brent van Hoorn
I have a keen interest in human-focused products and the mechanics that make them work. Working at Fearsome allows me to use my background in mechanical design and device development to explore new fields of the medical industry and work on products that have a meaningful impact on people's day-to-day lives.
Project Lead
Rory Ingram
Rory is an experienced engineering manager, with experience across numerous high integrity sectors gained in small medium and large organisations. Currently on assignment with a client getting his hands dirty with validation testing and the documentation associated with design verification to rigorous regulations and standards. Rory joined Fearsome to help develop operational processes within the rapidly growing organisation.
Design Engineer
Kierran Smillie
I am a mechanical engineer with a background in fluid dynamics, experience in product development and hands-on testing. I put our prototypes through their paces in the lab to help inform the design process.
I was excited to work for Fearsome on the cutting edge in the medical sphere and get the opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects that will result in real benefits for people.
